ABOUT PROJECT
Electricity blackouts are a major disruption to the work of hospitals and WATER UTILITIES.
Hospitals save thousands of lives every day providing medical care to the civilian population, and for that they need an uninterrupted electricity supply. Water utilities provide water supply to the population. Solar power plants are a long-term solution to the problem, a reliable protection against possible worsening of the situation, and also one of the first steps for Ukrainian municipalities towards the green recovery of the country.
The non-government organization Ecoclub with the support of the Solar Energy Association of Ukraine, launched the Solar Aid For Ukraine Project ITS PURPOSE IS TO PROVIDE UKRAINIAN CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE WITH A RELIABLE SOURCE OF ELECTRICITY, WHICH IS SOLAR POWER PLANTS.
Our primary objective is to equip as many hospitals and water utilities with a reliable and sustainable source of energy and storage with solar power plants. This will allow medical staff to continue to save lives and treat our civilian population during everyday power cuts. And SPP for water utilities guarantee uninterrupted water supply. SPP will also reduce the reliance, maintenance and burden of expensive cumbersome diesel fuelled generators.

Total cost: 45 598 USD. The equipment for the solar power plant was provided by Elektrizitätswerke Schönau with the support of the WECF (Women Engage for a Common Future).

Andriy Martynuk
Project leader & Excutive Director – NGO Ecoclub
Andriy Martyniuk is the initiator of the “Solar Aid For Ukraine” project. He has been the executive director of Ecoclub for more than 18 years. Under his leadership, the first solar power plant in Ukraine was built for a water supply company, which is successfully functioning under existing war conditions in Voznesensk (Mykolaiv region). Andriy has also coordinated the development and financial support for renewable energy sources inKorosten and Zhytomyr.
Dmytro Sakalyuk
Technical expert of the project
Dmytro Sakalyuk has more than 15 years of project management experience in the field of renewable energy sources. During this time, he coordinated the installation of solar power plants for critical infrastructure facilities in Zvyagel (Zhytomyr Oblast) and Voznesensk (Mykolaiv Oblast), and facilitated the foundation of five Revolving Funds (mechanisms for supporting energy-efficient or RES-based measures) in cooperation with local self-government bodies. While participating in international projects, he assisted with the creation of energy management systems for 100 Ukrainian municipalities.
Julia Guziy
Project communication manager
Julia has worked as a communications manager at Ecoclub for over two years. She develops and manages information campaigns of the organization, is responsible for press and media relations and manages relations with key partners of Ecoclub. Julia will be happy to answer any questions about the project, arrange a meeting with team members and discuss the details of possilbe cooperation.

Coordinates the direction of installation of solar power plants for critical facilities. Responsible for the implementation of projects.

Engineer
Supervises the construction of solar power plants, develops and checks the quality of design and estimate documentation, controls the construction process of facilities. Communicates with contractors, partners, equipment suppliers and other stakeholders.

Assistant
As part of the team, she helps in the implementation of the project, provides office and administrative support.

Selection of objects
- Ecoclub communicatеs the opportunity to the Ukrainian municipalities.
- Local self-government bodies provide general and technical information about the facility.
- Ecoclub experts analyze obtained information and choose municipalities for cooperation.

Solution design
- Ecoclub technical expert carries out pre-feasibility study.
- Ecoclub negotiates potential co-financing of a solar station with local self-government bodies.
- Ecoclub experts visit SPP installation sites inspecting building structures and energy networks.
- Ecoclub gets approval of pre-feasibility study from local self-government bodies and develops project estimates.

Selection of contractors
- Ecoclub issues project technical specifications.
- Ecoclub announces tender for SPP installers and invites them for participation.
- Ecoclub selects suppliers based on the most favorable offer and common values.
- Contract for SPP installation is signed.
04
SPP Installation
- A contractor goes to the site and examines the object.
- A contractor installs SPP and connects it to the power grid, launches the equipment.
- Ecoclub evaluates the results and prepares video and written reports.
