Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) are important tools for public participation in decision-making on environmental issues. They help to prevent potential negative impacts on the environment and public health and take into account public opinion.
Considering the country’s situation, the forced temporary introduction of deviations from the rules of the EIA and SEA procedure is necessary, but not all restrictions on public access to information on environmental issues and their participation in the decision-making process are urgent and necessary.
Ecoclub has prepared proposals on the content of the Ministry of Ecology’s concept note on the narrowing of EIA during martial law and the need to develop an alternative impact assessment mechanism.
