Even during the war, rear-guard municipalities continue to work on energy security and independence. Solar power plants will be installed for the city dentistry in Rivne and the hospital in Dubno. The municipalities received part of the funds for the installation as part of a micro-project competition from the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The solar power plants will help municipalities reduce utility bills and fuel consumption by generators without electricity supply. It will also increase the energy security of medical institutions and the stability of the electricity supply, so patients will continue to receive medical services.
SPP for dentistry in Rivne
The power plant will be installed for the Rivne Municipal Dental Clinic. Its design capacity is 40 kW. The plant will produce 42,023 kWh annually. SPP will cover 36% of the building’s energy consumption. The saved funds – about UAH 208 thousand (at the current tariff) – can be used for other needs or to increase the station’s capacity.
The project’s total cost is UAH 3,411,330 (including roof repairs). Of these:
25 thousand euros (UAH 981,236 at the NBU exchange rate as of March 2023) – funds from the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany;
UAH 2,370,000 – funds from the municipality;
UAH 60,000 – contribution of the Ecoclub.
The municipality is currently developing design and estimate documentation. In early June, they will start repairing the roof of the dentistry. The SPP is planned to be installed by September 2023.
SPP for a hospital in Dubno
The power plant will be installed for the municipal non-profit enterprise Dubno City Hospital. The planned capacity of the plant is 44.8 kW. On average, it will generate 46,800 kWh of electricity annually for 20 years, covering 12% of the hospital’s needs.
The project’s total cost is UAH 1,719,951 (including roof repairs). Of these:
25 thousand euros (UAH 987,500) – funds from the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany;
UAH 672,451 – funds from the municipality;
UAH 60,000 – contribution of the Ecoclub.
The municipality has finalized all the necessary documents. The power plant is scheduled to be installed by the end of June this year.
As a reminder, Ecoclub is looking for municipalities ready to install solar power plants for critical infrastructure within the Solar Aid For Ukraine project. To cooperate, we invite you to fill out this questionnaire. Based on its results, we will collect contacts of municipalities ready to install SPPs for water utilities and hospitals.
Our experts will also develop feasibility studies for selected facilities – documents containing information on project implementation’s technical and economic feasibility.
