Support for energy managers while the war: Olena Danylchenko

Last week Ecoclub announced financial help to energy managers, who are now in difficult circumstances because of the full-scale war in Ukraine. In the first few hours, we received 8 requests. One of them was from Olena Danilchenko from Sumy.

Olena is 23 years old and until recently she held the position of Specialist of the Department of Ecology, Energy Saving and Energy Payments of the Department of Finance, Economy and Investment of Sumy City Council.

“I am proud to have taken an active part in the GIZ project” Promoting Energy Efficiency and Implementing the EU Energy Efficiency Directive in Ukraine “. Our community is the second in Ukraine, which received the ISO 50001: 2018 certificate of compliance. It certifies that the Sumy City Council has implemented and is using an energy management system in the field: “Municipal Services”. In 2022, we confirmed the legitimacy of it certificate.

Our department of energy saving in Sumy has created a book – collections of fairy tales dedicated to environmental protection and energy-saving, written by schoolchildren (grades 1-4) from our city. I have been participating in the organization and holding of competitions, and events for the Day of Sustainable Energy 2021 in the Sumy amalgamated community. Given my young age, I have dealt with energy conservation issues in my city, and I am proud of that experience.”
